Britain's Got Talent : Why did Shaheen get a second chance?

Yes we're back on the the BGT trip. I made my feelings known about the whole Susan Boyle phenomenon. Apparently, despite my concerns, she is heading on to be one of the most viewed clips on YouTube ever having so far notched up 34 million views, go figure.

Enough about Susan, today we turn cast our beady eyes on a enough BGT phenomenon, the youthful prodigy that is Shaheen Jafargholi. Just to clarify Shaheen is clearly very, very talented which is all the more why I am bemused by the nonsense that surrounded his audition.

It started off with Shaheen coming on stage and proceeding to sing 'Valerie" the Zutons song made famous by Amy Winehouse. Now I am no music Svengali but I thought it was a decent performance and the crowd thought so as well as they were cheering along.

Suddenly though Simon Cowell has his hand up calling proceedings to a halt, cue confused looks all around (or should that be supposedly confused looks) and Simon announces enigmatically to Shaheen"you've got this wrong". Now call me pedantic, but at this point isn't he supposed to press his red button to signify his disapproval, aren't Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan supposed to wade in saying how much they loved the act, which they appeared to be doing, wouldn't any normal 12 year old be reduced to a quivering wreck.

No none of this happened instead Simon asked young Shaheen what else he could sing to which the reply came "Who's loving you" by Michael Jackson. Off you go, says Simon and as it happens the backing track to the song is available (thank God for small miracles eh!) and Shaheen launches into an absolutely pitch perfect rendition of the song.

You might be thinking, OK it is not like this hasn't happened before, and you might be right Cowell has given others a second chance at an audition.

What if you learn that young Shaheen beat a bunch of other equally talented kid to nab the lead role in 'Thriller Live', a musical featuring the songs of Michael Jackson, that he has gone on tour to Germany, Holland and Ireland and that he is a veteran of stage school and has appeared several times on TV in shows like Casualty and Dr Who.

Not so blasé are we now. Nothing wrong with a bit of scripting but please make it realistic, this was just appalling. Anyway the bookies have Susan Boyle followed closely by Shaheen as the top favourites to win the whole lot...:-)

Celebrity Haunts : The Hawley Arms

Like almost everyone else in the UK we can't get enough of Google Street view. We love it so much we have decided to start a new series using google street view to unearth place where the rich, famous and notorious head to.

Today we visit the Hawley Arms the scene of many (some will say too many) of Amy Winehouse's escapades. Yes the Hawley Arms is her local in Camden.

The pictures were taken last summer just after the Hawley Arms and large parts of historic Camden had been damaged by a huge fire.

Amy Winehouse in court over assault charges

Amy Winehouse and a gaggle of paparazzi and fans turned the normally sedate City of Westminster Magistrates court into a media circus this afternoon.

Amy Winehouse, a gaggle of paparazzi and press, adoring fans, burly bodyguards and well-groomed lawyers all converged on the City Of Westminster Magistrates Court today as the Winehouse media bandwagon marked its official return from the sun kissed islands of St Lucia to the slightly chillier London.

Not that Amy seemed to notice as she made her appearance at court today in a revealing floral print mini-dress.

It was not all light-hearted though as Amy was in court on charges of assault. It is alleged that she assaulted dancer Sherene Flash last September at a charity ball in London. Ms Flash said Amy had attacked her after she had requested for a photo which had been initially agreed to.
She case was adjourned to July 23, when no doubt the circus will return.

Is Amy Winehouse now a Lesbian ?

She has been accused of so many things taking crack, racist ranting and now we find out she is apparently a lesbian lady stealer.

According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Amy Winehouse who has been on a seemingly endless holiday in St Lucia, has been involved in the breakup of a lesbian couple.


The paper reports

A woman holidaymaker on her first romantic trip with her new partner exploded in rage when she found her in bed with Amy in a hotel room on St Lucia.

But unashamed Amy just shrugged and asked the other woman to join them.

The shocked woman and her partner, who had been together for four months, left the room and had a furious row which led to them splitting up.

She's not shy is our Amy!

Paris Hilton splashes out on £2 million London mansion....

Paris Hilton was in the UK filming her reality TV series My British Best Friend last year and it looks like she has been smitten by the British capital and has now decided to splash out on a £2million mansion in Camden according to the Daily Mirror. Paris is said to set to also plough in another £250,000 bringing her new pad upto her particular specifications.

Camden is one of London's trendy upcoming neighbourhood and she will be living not far from celebrities like Amy Winehouse (if she ever decides to return from St Lucia). It is unlikely she'll be hanging out with Amy though, apart from the obviouses challenges it poses to anyone, Paris had previously been quoted as saying about Amy "I love her music but I don't know if I could handle that lifestyle."
