Noughties Random Facts (2000-09) - Biggest digital downloads US

This was the decade when the digital download in the form of the ubiquitous MP3 file became a real rival to CDs for delivering music. Almost all musical charts (at least those with any with credibility) now record a combination of digital (MP3) downloads and sales of physical units to determine chart performance.

We look back over the years 2000 -2009 and find out what biggest digitally downloaded singles of the last decade.

Lily Allen is top of the Charts this weekend

Wild child and tabloid favourite Lily Allen is back doing what she does best, making music and her new single The Fear has stormed to the top of the UK's single charts ending the two week run of Lady Gaga's Just Dance.

The single is from her forthcoming album It's Not Me, It's You which will be relased on the 9th of February,

Ex-Idol Kelly Clarkson is back at No 1.

Kelly Clarkson is back and with a new US No1 as her smash single My Life Would Suck Without You has stormed to the top of the charts from a relatively poor entry at 96, pushing aside former No.1 Lady Gaga's Just Dance.

For Clarkson, the first winner of the American Idol Tv show, this is only her second No1. The first A Moment Like This , was released on the back of her victory on the reality TV show.

The Video for the single debuted during the commerical break of this week's American Idol.

UK & US single No 1 this weekend is.....

Lady Gaga. The kooky singer from New York has held off the competition as she notches up another week at the top of the UK singles chart and also hold the top spot on the other side of the Atlantic with her single Just Dance.

And if that's not enough she's only gone and got herself nominated for the Grammys in the category of 'Best Dance Recording' for the this track
